What Escape Academy 2 actually is
Exploring the campus
Chapter 1: orientation week
Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is out, and it is not a menu of escape rooms with a school painted around them. Coin Crew Games took the format of the 2022 game and moved it into a campus you walk: five locations, hidden tunnels, detention for climbing the wrong fence, and escape rooms that sit behind doors you may not have earned yet. The whole place is the puzzle.

What separates this sequel from its predecessor is not the puzzle count - it is that you have to find the puzzles. Between lessons you cross a courtyard, notice a locked store room, notice a second thing that opens it three minutes later, and come back. If you bounce off wandering and want the 2022 structure of "pick a room, solve the room", this one will annoy you before it charms you.
Before your first class
Four things are worth knowing before you press start, all of them from the game's own systems rather than from opinion.
- The orientation checklist is a tutorial, not decoration. The board in the dorm hallway lists four jobs: survive the spikes, find your locker, unlock your dorm, buy your books. Working it in order teaches you the campus, and the puzzle pieces you bank from it are what open the library door later.
- Puzzle pieces are shared between players but counted on the host. In co-op the piece count comes from the host's save. If a guest sees a lower number, remaking the lobby is the fix, not replaying the room.
- Demo progress may not survive. Saves from the demo published on 16 October 2026 carry into the release build; saves from the earlier demo do not, which the studio apologised for as roughly an hour of replay. A replacement save is published for anyone who would rather skip it.
- No-Timer Mode is on the menu, not unlocked later. If a countdown ruins puzzle games for you, switch it off in the options before the first room rather than after the third.
The questions people actually type
Is it out? Yes. 5 November 2026, and the first patch landed the day after launch.
Does it have Chinese? Simplified Chinese text, yes - one of seven languages in the build. Full audio support is listed for English only.
How long is it? Eight to fifteen hours according to Coin Crew Games on the Steam forum, with the low end belonging to players who skip the story and the high end to players who hunt side content.
Can I play alone? Yes, and the whole campaign is solvable solo. Co-op is two players and no more, and there is no friend pass, so both players need a copy of the game.
Where to read next
- New to the series and deciding whether to buy: start with what the game actually is, then the price and platform table, then whether it is worth $16.99.
- Already playing and stuck: the chapter 1 walkthrough covers orientation, and the puzzle pages cover the maze, the clocktower and the ship.
- Chasing completion: the achievement table lists all 41 with their live unlock rates, from 98.3% down to 1.0%, which is also a decent map of where the player base gave up.
One caveat: the game is two days old. Where a puzzle has no published solution, the page says what the room wants and where players stall, and stops there.
